NTPC Typing Test

RRB NTPC Typing Test – Complete Details & Practice Guide

RRB NTPC Typing Skill Test (TST) is a qualifying round for the Non-Technical Popular Categories posts in Indian Railways. It evaluates your typing speed and accuracy. Below is a complete explanation of the rules, evaluation formula, and preparation strategy — followed by a practice typing box just like the official test.

✅ Official Typing Test Rules

  • The test is qualifying in nature — no marks added to merit.
  • Duration: 10 minutes.
  • Minimum Speed: 30 WPM (English) or 25 WPM (Hindi).
  • Minimum Words to Type: 300 words (English) / 250 words (Hindi).
  • No spell-check, auto-correct, or external editor allowed.
  • Practice or demo session may be provided before the final test.

🧮 Typing Speed Calculation Formula

The formula commonly used by RRBs for calculating typing speed is:

Typing Speed (WPM) = (Total Words Typed − (Final Mistakes × 10)) ÷ Time (Minutes)

If your final WPM is 30 or above (English) / 25 or above (Hindi), you qualify for the typing test.

💡 Important Notes

  • Only 5% of mistakes may be ignored depending on RRB policy.
  • Re-typing the passage is allowed if you finish early.
  • Hindi typing can be done using Kruti Dev or Mangal font.
  • Accuracy is more important than raw speed due to the penalty formula.
